From its inception, EDUN’s mission has been to source sustainable production and encourage trade in Africa by mixing its creative vision with the richness and positivity of this fast-growing continent.

- Create singular, high-vquality and creative products
- Cause no unnecessary harm and offer alternatives and transparency
- Use business to inspire and implement new solutions

    Our Mission.

EDUN is building long-term growth opportunities by working with artisans, manufacturers and community-based initiatives to develop high-end designer products that celebrate and challenge ethical and sustainable fashion.

EDUN’s ready to wear and accessory collections are led by an internal creative collective based in New York. The collective works closely with different partners throughout the African continent and some international mills who are exploring authentic creations and new eco alternatives.

The majority of EDUN’s production is currently made in Africa, between Kenya and Madagascar. The sourcing of each collection is a mix of innovative eco solutions (organic, recycled, and upcycled fabric) and artisanal custom-made fabric developments and embellishments made in Africa.

    Our Beliefs.

    SUSTAINABLE IS NOW ...

We believe that sustainable initiatives are key for today’s new luxury consumer and have become a mandate for all businesses. Therefore, EDUN wants to be a leader amongst fashion brands exploring all environmentally and socially responsible questions.

    AFRICA IS NOW ...

Africa is now the fastest growing continent and is both resourceful and abundantly creative. As a pioneer in its social mission, it has never felt so relevant for EDUN to pursue its journey, to explore unique opportunities and be a new role model for tomorrow.

    Our Partners.

Our driving force is to emphasize African contributions to the world.

Our partners inspire us, and we continue to work to hone their craft with them. We constantly strive to generate new creative expressions and partner with more people.

These innovations come to life via reimagined handwork techniques, unexpected materials and through repurposing existing resources in fresh ways, as we push the boundaries to inspire bold and exciting possibilities. We are always looking for long term partnerships not beholden to any regular fashion and seasonal calendar.

We develop original fabrics, hardware, leather goods and footwear locally in Africa by partnering with organizations such as Ethical Fashion Initiative, who supports our production in Burkina Faso, Carol Nevin, SOKO, IBABA Rwanda and Bata Heritage from Kenya.

In conjunction with our ready to wear and accessories collection we collaborate with young and emerging African artists, photographers, stylists and models.

    Social Impact.

Above all, our fashion aims to push Africa and its communities forward.

Alongside impressive and sustained economic and demographic growth, Africa’s population will double to 2billion by 2050. A multitude of social challenges remain very present in a large part of the continent. Education and the digital revolution are two factors that will boost the economic boom to come.

It is important for us to use fashion to create new opportunities, reimagine trade and train new generations.

We communicate on a daily basis with all our partners to build up our skill set and learn from each other. We ensure that our partners are fairly compensated for their work and that their environment respects our standard. Despite the difficult business climate in which we exist, we believe in putting respect over greed and engaging people with dignity. Over time, we are creating a more sustainable system and showing that ethical production is possible.

    Our Sourcing.

The origin of our products, as well as the stories behind them, remains front and center.

It is key to reveal where things come from; we believe this approach is beneficial to all.

We want our customers to achieve a real understanding of both the origin and meaning behind their investment. The communication around our sourcing also gives our partners the opportunity to share their talent and connect with the world around them.

We leverage all of our interactions to bring transparency around our factories, processes and the people we work with.

    Sustainability.

We create new expressions while being mindful of our global environment.

Sustainability is the crux of our values; a reason to exist that is both ethical and responsible.

The majority of our collections are sourced from mills that minimize their impact on the environment, with organic, recyclable or biodegradable qualities but also with water conservation, usage of solar energy, less pesticides or local sourcing. This aids in having a less harmful impact on the planet.

Being a sustainable-forward company means working with new and evolving materials, challenging traditional ideas but also investing in high-end quality.
