In a common mission to promote sustainable and ethical sourcing and manufacturing in Africa, EDUN and Bata Heritage have collaborated on the iconic Bata Safari boots for Fall/Winter 2017. The Bata Safari Boot was inspired by the Veldtschoen leather boots that South African farmers wore at the turn of the century. With a standard stitch-down construction, it proved capable of withstanding the toughest conditions of the African savannah and became a favorite of local guides. It has since been one of Kenya’s best-selling shoes, popular with locals and tourists alike. For this collaboration, the boots have been revisited in unexpected materials such as white patent leather and PVC with lurex zebra laces, which give a luxurious and urban touch to the African heritage.
